Throughout the Bible, we see numerous examples of men in covenant with God—Adam, Noah, Moses, David, and Jesus. However, when we search for female examples, they often seem harder to find. While the pages of Scripture showcase many women of remarkable faith, Ruth stands out as the most vibrant Old Testament example of covenantal love.

Ruth’s famous speech to Naomi is more than a declaration of loyalty to her mother-in-law—it is an unwavering commitment to God. In that moment, Ruth was covenanting herself to the Lord. Her love for Him enabled her to make such a bold and selfless vow, one made without limits and born of deep faith and devotion. This was not an impulsive or emotional promise made by a frail or inexperienced girl. Ruth, though young, was wise beyond her years. She understood the gravity of her words and spoke them with full intention. Despite her Moabite lineage, her widowhood, and her poverty, the Lord welcomed Ruth’s faith. He honored her courage, humility, and devotion—and He will do the same for you.

Ruth’s story teaches us that true covenantal love is rooted in humility, courage, and trust in God’s faithfulness. Her example challenges us to live with an undivided heart and steadfast purpose, regardless of our circumstances.
